Use of the waste heat from a refuse incineration plant

In December 2015, the first DeVeTec waste heat power plant left Germany for China, where it is being installed on behalf of our joint venture Guangdong DeWeiGao High Technology Energy Co., Ltd. in Dongguan in Guangdong province, at a refuse incineration plant.

The flue gases from the refuse incineration are used as the heating medium; these reach a temperature of up to 370°C. The flue gas heats the bio-ethanol in the pipework of the heat exchanger, where it is converted into vapour at an evaporation capacity of 1000 kWth, and is fed to the piston engine of the waste heat power plant. The machine then performs its work and generates electricity, with an output of 150kWel.

In this form, this coupling of an ORC waste heat power plant to a refuse incineration plant is the first in China. The project is seen as a flagship project for the DeWeiGao joint venture: it is expected that the system will be commissioned in Q4 of 2016.
